Did you know? Sonics original name was Mr. Needlemouse. He was created by Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima for Sega and first appeared in the 1991 video game Sonic the Hedgehog for the Mega Drive/Genesis console. The character was designed to be a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog who could run at superhuman speeds, collecting rings while avoiding obstacles.
